About Us
Our Mission
Mountain River Youth Ranch offers hope, encouragement, and love to at-risk children and their families as they become engaged in the love and care of horses. We believe children should not be left alone as they try to heal and move to the other side of their brokenness and struggles.
Our Vision
Mountain River’s vision is to aid in the renewal of a child’s hope, the restoration of their dignity and the mentoring of their broken hearts resulting in a change to the trajectory of their lives toward a more positive and purposeful future.
We are a faith-based, non-profit organization and share the same Judeo-Christian values our country was founded on yet are not affiliated with any religious denomination.
The board of directors plan and work towards their mission of loving at-risk children and their families.
Ranch Director and Board Members
Sherrie Davis
Sherrie is a teacher, equestrian and mother and has lived in the Snohomish County area most of her life.
In the spring of 2007 she traveled to Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch in Oregon to attend their information clinic to hear all about how to build a horse ranch that serves at-risk children and rescues abused horses. Mountain River was founded the following November and the gates opened spring of 2008 after a prayer -”Lord I have no land, no horses and no money but if I could please do what they do I would be in heaven”
As one of the founders, Sherrie has been able to bring her experience with children, her love of the outdoors and her relationship with horses to help create a safe and loving place for struggling and under-resourced children.
Glen Gordon, Board Member
Glen and his wife Becky also traveled to Crystal Peaks in Bend in 2007. Glen has a construction company and wants to use his expertise to build and support a ranch like Crystal Peaks here, near his home.
He and his wife Becky are deeply rooted in the community of Fall City, Washington, where they live and work, and raised their two children. They have two grandchildren.
Meet Our Horses
Angel
Angel is a beautiful bay, calm and eager to please. She’s a retired team penning horse with knees that won’t let her do that anymore. She thrives under the love of children and let’s everyone braid her mane.
Dallas
As sweet as candy, Dallas is a buckskin who loves to be outdoors. She takes care of her horse friends as well as the children.
